Margaret Atwood writes “What breaks at daybreak? Is it the night? Is it the sun, cracked in two by the horizon like an egg, spilling out the light?” This past week I was the lucky one to witness daybreak, that cracking of the egg, at wonderful, magical Lake Louise. You can see my efforts to capture the golden hour of mountain alpine glow above. I woke up especially early so I could get a glimpse of the famous Rocky Mountain sunrise and I was not disappointed. I bundled up and grabbed my camera and wandered out into a bitterly cold, frosty morning and awaited the sun. The air was so cold and still you could hear the ice crack and the lake groan. The odd, haunting call of a crow only added to the magical experience. Of course this shot does not remotely capture the wonder of an early morning sunrise on Lake Louise, but I thought I would share it with you anyways!
Now this week, my post must be short. I’m off to one of my favourite Southern Alberta haunts, Nanton, to enjoy their Antique and Art Walk called Nanton Lights the Way. Perhaps I will pick up another vintage Ralph Connor book for Dad for Christmas. Or a wee camera for my collection. I promise to share more photos from my lovely Lake Louise adventure in the coming weeks. Until then, thanks as always for visiting!
amazing! By the way, the publishing community is a-buzz about your arrival in BC…. this by the grapevine!
Hey! I just heard about “the grapevine” – what a small world eh? Can’t wait to visit, often! Until then, have a fantastic birthday Marian!
So magical thanks for the pleasure of sharing this experience
Thanks Beverley! It is a truly magical place eh?
