In An Essay On Man, Alexander Pope writes
Hope springs eternal in the human breast
Man never is, but always will be blessed:
The soul, uneasy and confined from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.
There is always hope! While passing through beautiful Hope, British Columbia on a recent work trip, this quote came to mind and this shot of a fabulous old pick up truck ensued. It was just this time last year that I was contemplating selling my beloved orange Jeep out of necessity yet this past week I celebrated my final car payment by driving my Jeep west for our Summer Sales Conference. What a wonderful adventure! Along the winding, mountainous BC highways I witnessed emerald lakes, rugged wilderness, charming towns and the odd, once-loved classic car proudly displayed as proof of miles upon miles of freedom-giving drives. If you would like to see more shots taken along the way, please visit my website here, or my in-the-moment Instagram shots here.
I would like to thank all of my Pearson colleagues for the warm welcome at the conference. I’ve missed you! Thanks also to my co-pilot for the Cochrane-Vancouver leg, fellow Pearson-ite Kelly Ronan, for keeping me company on the long drive and to her family for a welcome alfresco supper in Salmon Arm. Thanks also to the Guy family for taking me in for a night of great food and endless laughter in lovely, historic Rossland. It was also a nice surprise to find my Alberta and BC cousins camping along our route. Great adventures can happen if you keep a hopeful (and grateful) heart!
