“If the Fates allow…hang a shining star upon the highest bow. And have yourself a Merry Little Christmas now.” The immortal lyrics of Ralph Blane’s 1943 classic Christmas song have been clanging around in my heart the past few weeks as I prepare to not only head home for Christmas but to head west to Alberta to start a new chapter in my life in January. I have a new job for the coming year (break out the bubbly!) and also a new home in charming Cochrane. Fantastic news, but you see, I am finding that saying goodbye to dear friends and family here is extremely difficult!
Over the past few weeks, I have visited with so many dear friends who have touched my life and my heart. Appreciated lunches, suppers, discussions over tea, Christmas concerts and holiday movies have ensued. Unexpected tears have flowed. And my heart has broken and been filled with joy in equal measure. In fact, I took the photo above just outside of Morriston, Ontario on my way between visits this past week, my eyes tear-filled as I clicked away. Yet I think it makes the perfect Christmas card from me to you this holiday season. Each of you has touched my heart deeply and your support and love through the years means the world to me!
This is not goodbye but see you soon!!
Merry Christmas, with love, from your Vagabond Photographer.
