I never thought I’d say there’s such a thing as too many adventures…too much vagabonding… but after The Great Via Rail Adventure, Christmas back home and the start of a new job coupled with that other holiday tradition, “The Christmas Cold”, I have found myself lacking my usual adventurous spirit of late. Not to worry; it will return soon, and with it some more snaps from the road.
Until that time, I thought I’d share with you one of my favourite traveling quotes above, printed on a fall snap from The Great Mono Cliffs Adventure: “All that glitters is not gold; Not all who wander are lost.” This was written by J.R.R. Tolkien not long after the war when he wrote The Lord of the Rings. It seems fitting for this blog and for my philosophy for taking to the open road. In fact, this photo and quote graces the front of my newly-designed iPad cover that should arrive at my doorstep any day now. If you have an iDevice or an eReader and would like to personalize your own cover, you should check out M Edge here. They have a wonderful selection of covers and also an easy-to-use customizer that allows you to create your own using photos you have taken. Give it a try!
I would also like to share a very cool story from another vagabond-er I discovered this past week. I love to read other travel blogs and I found one that seemed very familiar. Kolby Kirk is a fellow in the US who decided to walk the Pacific Trail from California to Canada after losing his job several years ago. He kept a detailed journal along the way. Actually, he kept many! He is a fabulous sketcher and photographer and he filled many lovely Moleskine journals with his reflections and discoveries along the way. If you love good travel stories, please check out Kolby’s adventures here. You will be glad you did!
Have a great week everyone!
