Visit the Village of Bayfield if You Can

Last weekend on my road trip home, I made a stop at a now familiar haunt, the village of Bayfield.  If you are ever lucky enough to get out to Ontario’s west coast (Lake Huron), this place is well worth the visit.  Fortunately for me my favourite sign of early summer, lilacs in full bloom, were in evidence everywhere (see picture above).  I wish I could have captured the fresh scent along with this photo.

I also visited my favourite bookshop, The Village Bookshop, to pick up a long weekend read.  This is a tiny shop for sure, but it is filled with nothing but the best new releases and local favourites.  I picked up the middle book in my latest must-have series, The Millenium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson, from Penguin (yay us!).  One would think I could plan ahead enough to cash in on my employee discount!

On a related topic (and seeing that this is going to be a busy week and so I’m tacking what could be another post on here…), most of you know that I managed to pick up a new iPad (or now called iPat) yesterday.  I was briefly dismayed to learn that my favourite feature of this magical gadget, iBook, is not yet functional in Canada.  Not to fear.  Amazon, despite having their own e-Reader, the Kindle, smartly developed an e-Reader app for the iPad and immediately sold me some “books” for my new device.  What’s on my iPad now?  Geek that I am, my first purchases were The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, as well as some great business titles such as Drive by Daniel Pink, Groundswell by Forrester Research, and Socialnomics by Erik Qualman.  Oh, and my favourite book of all time, Jane Eyre.  Guess I’d better sign off and start reading!
