My hero growing up was Terry Fox.  I was 12 when he lost his life to cancer and I remember being devastated.  Our whole family was, and as a family, we participated in the very first Terry Fox Run at Canatara Park in Sarnia.  It was probably the last time that I actually ran without being chased.

Life often presents us with heroes.  My cousin Blair is one of mine.  Blair lost his Dad, my cousin Ron, to cancer not that long ago.  Blair and his whole family have gracefully and courageously picked up the pieces of their lives and have managed to thrive.  So, as a farmer’s daughter, I couldn’t have been happier to see Blair in action this weekend at the Royal Winter Fair.  Keep up the great work Blair – I’m very proud of you!
